Cross-cutting resource · The rosette

From postures to classroom situations.

The selected posture specifies what AI is being asked to do, but also what it must not do. The student verifies, transforms and decides.

What does the student need?

01
Reflection

The Mirror

Clarify what the student already thinks.

Explaining the causes of the French Revolution

Classroom situation

The student has written a first explanation, but it remains general and mixes economic, social and political causes.

Student’s starting point

“The people were poor and rebelled against the king.”

Other possible subjects

Formulate a research question · Clarify an experiment report · Prepare the introduction to an oral presentation

Possible request to AI

“Reformulate my explanation in two ways without adding information. In each version, identify the words or causal links that remain imprecise.”

What remains with the student

Compare the reformulations, identify the one that best respects the original idea, then complete missing knowledge using the lesson and documents.

Critical testing

Friction

Put a position to the test.

Should smartphones be banned in lower secondary school?

Classroom situation

The student defends a precise position and wants to test whether the argument withstands serious objections.

Student’s starting point

A thesis stated in one or two sentences and at least two personal arguments.

Other possible subjects

School uniforms · Energy choices · A character’s decision in a literary work

Possible request to AI

“Here is my position: [position]. Give the three strongest objections that a serious opponent would make. Avoid easy objections.”

What remains with the student

Choose the most important objection, answer it first without AI, then decide whether the original position should be qualified.

03
Perspectives

The Prism

Look at a subject from other positions.

Installing a wind farm near a municipality

Classroom situation

The student already has an opinion and must understand the interests, values and constraints of actors who reason differently.

Student’s starting point

The student’s own viewpoint, stated explicitly before asking AI.

Other possible subjects

Urban planning · A historical event seen by several actors · Use of a natural resource

Possible request to AI

“Present the serious viewpoints of a local resident, an engineer, an environmental organisation and a local elected representative. Give each one their strongest arguments, without caricature.”

What remains with the student

Identify absent voices, verify factual claims and explain what one viewpoint requires the student to reconsider.

Information research

The Researcher

Build a verifiable search.

Why are the seasons not caused by the Earth’s distance from the Sun?

Classroom situation

The student seeks a precise scientific explanation and resources that can be identified and checked.

Student’s starting point

A bounded question, keywords already tried and what the student thinks they know.

Other possible subjects

Scientific definition · Historical reference point · Statistic requiring an update · Origin of a claim

Possible request to AI

“Help me build a search: suggest keywords, concepts to verify and types of reliable sources. Separate what is established from what still needs confirmation.”

What remains with the student

Open the real sources, locate the information in context, cross-check it and discard any reference that cannot be found.

05
Organisation

The Copilot

Make a complex project manageable.

Preparing an exhibition about water in the local area

Classroom situation

The group knows the expected result but has not yet ordered the research, production and division of work.

Student’s starting point

An objective, a deadline, constraints and a concrete definition of the final outcome.

Other possible subjects

Prepare an oral presentation · Organise an experiment · Plan a collective project · Structure a report

Possible request to AI

“Our objective is [objective]. Propose a sequence of stages, each with a verifiable outcome. Identify dependencies, but do not assign roles for us.”

What remains with the student

Modify the plan, estimate real time, distribute responsibilities and decide what is most important.

06
Judgement

The Arbiter

Compare without delegating the decision.

Choosing a material for a model bridge

Classroom situation

The student is considering several solutions and must make explicit the criteria that make the choice defensible.

Student’s starting point

The available options, the student’s own criteria and an initial reasoned assessment.

Other possible subjects

Compare sources · Choose a problem-solving strategy · Assess posters · Examine several hypotheses

Possible request to AI

“Compare these materials using our criteria: strength, mass, cost, availability and environmental impact. Justify each assessment and identify what must be checked.”

What remains with the student

Weight the criteria, compare the analysis with practical tests, take responsibility for the final choice and explain the compromises.

Maieutics

The Teacher

Reveal what is understood and what remains fragile.

Revising photosynthesis before an oral assessment

Classroom situation

The student thinks the concept is understood and asks to be questioned without immediately receiving the explanation or answer.

Student’s starting point

A personal explanation of what the student believes they understand and acceptance of demanding questioning.

Other possible subjects

Grammar rule · Mathematical proof · Oral preparation · Subject-specific vocabulary

Possible request to AI

“Question me about photosynthesis one question at a time. Give no answer or hint before my attempt. Ask a follow-up if my answer is vague.”

What remains with the student

Answer in the student’s own words, identify hesitation, then return to the lesson to correct what remains incomplete.

Creation

The Coauthor

Develop material the student has already produced.

Writing the monologue of a secondary character

Classroom situation

The student has an intention, a voice and the beginning of a text. AI intervenes on existing material, not in place of the first creative act.

Student’s starting point

A sentence, scene or raw idea, with constraints concerning tone, viewpoint and length.

Other possible subjects

Podcast introduction · Screenplay · Exhibition text · Poetic variation · Storyboard

Possible request to AI

“Based on my text, propose three very different directions for continuing it. Preserve the character’s voice and explain the narrative choice behind each direction.”

What remains with the student

Choose, combine, rewrite and delete, while being able to distinguish the student’s intention from the tool’s suggestions.

An example does not replace the method.

Whatever the posture, the full pathway remains the same: protect the setting, clarify the intention, formulate the request, observe the response, verify, appropriate and decide.
