Before opening AI

Before any request to AI, accompany three actions with the student: pause, clarify the intention, then formulate the request carefully.

    Stop

    Ask the student to pause.

    This is the most important step. It breaks the reflex of immediately seeking an answer from AI. Give the student ten seconds without a screen.

    Intention

    Help the student clarify the intention.

    A vague request produces an unhelpful answer. Ask the student to state what they already know, what is blocking them and what they are seeking precisely.

    What are you really looking for, and what have you already tried?

    Formulation

    Make the request precise.

    The intention is clear. The request must now be formulated so that it preserves the student’s role.

    1. Say what is wanted. Use “Use simple words” rather than “No jargon”.
    2. Allow uncertainty. Add: “If you are not sure, say so.” This reduces, but does not remove, the risk of invented information.
    3. Give the criteria first. State the length, intended audience and exact expected outcome.
