Give the project goal, not a list of tasks already imagined. The proposed breakdown can then be compared with the student’s own plan.

With AI · Request

Follow the protocol without transferring the decision.

Each stage distinguishes what may be requested from AI from what must remain the student’s own decision.

Breakdown
Ask for the project to be divided into major chronological stages.
“Here is my project: [describe it]. Break it into major stages in chronological order. Do not develop the content or do the work for me.”
Identify obstacles
Identify the most difficult stage and why it is difficult.
“Here is my project: [describe it]. Which stage is likely to be the most difficult, and why?”
The student prioritises
The student chooses the first stage to address and justifies the choice. AI does not intervene.
The student decides the priority independently.
Short loop
Request help on this one stage only, not on the whole project.
“Help me with this single stage: [describe it]. Give me possible approaches and questions. Do not produce the result for me.”

AI takes over the entire project. Absolute rule: one stage at a time.

The student can explain the priorities without referring to AI.
