The student lists the assessment criteria. AI does not propose them at this stage.
The student defines the criteria independently.
Assessment by criterion
Submit each option to AI using only the student’s criteria and require precise reasons.

Tensions between criteria
Identify which criteria conflict. This is where the real difficulty lies.
“My criteria are: [paste them]. Which ones are in tension in this assessment?”
Possible consequences
Explore possible consequences before the student makes the decision.
“Options: [paste them]. What could be the consequences of each? Do not decide for me.”
Drift to watch
AI imposes its own criteria. Always begin by asking which criteria matter to the student.
Success indicator
The student can defend the decision against an unexpected objection.
